Earth Houses

Earth House projects from Erdhaus, swiss architect and team. Compared to traditional residential houses built on the ground, the aim of building an earth house is another: Not to live under or in the ground, but with it.

The earth house is a flexible construction which can be built according to the wishes of its owners, fulfilling the need for individuality, environmentally friendly construction and energy saving.

The earth house concept uses its surroundings as an advantage – the surroundings are not adapted to the building, the house is shaped in order to preserve the natural environment.

Modern earth-house architecture incorporates the latest interior finishing, such as contemporary kitchens, bathrooms and house-control systems.

Cost a lot to build, but not much to heat or cool. These make a lot of sense over time.

think of how depressing it would be compared to a house with windows.

Look at Frank Lloyd Wright's homes. They're built synonymous with nature, yet they allow you to enjoy the beauty of your surroundings.

These houses have just as much light as any other "above ground" house would. did you not see the HUUUUGE windows and skylights?

I'd love to have one of these...

I want to live in one of these! And I second that motion for more interior images. This reminds me of the studio apartment transportable cube that harmonizes with saving space in cities -- also conforming and working with, as opposed to against, the environment.

Those houses look fantastic, but I wonder how they fare against flooding.
